Following a successful career in the financial sector (Bank of America and City of London Investment Management), Gretchen Romig founded Italian Friends of The Citizens Foundation in 2010 and is its current President.

The Citizens Foundation, a Pakistani founded non-profit, brings quality education to the underprivileged. Inspired by The Citizens Foundation's award-winning dedication to supporting female education in Pakistan, and galvanized by the courageous act of Nobel-prize winning Malala's fight for educational equality, the Italian Friends has successfully attracted the broad support of Italian institutions, private companies and individuals in Milan through its innovative programs.
