Thierry Vissol

Thierry VissolThierry Vissol is an economist and an historian. He is presently director of the Center Librexpression, an Euro-Mediterranean Center for the promotion of freedom of expression and political satire that he created in 2017, as part of the Foundation Giuseppe Di Vagno.

From 1980 to 2016 Thierry was a civil servant in the European Commission, where he served as administrator in charge of economic forecasts for France and Italy (1980-1985), as Head of Unit in charge of the Ecu/Euro (1986-2002) and as Special Adviser on Audiovisual communication (2003-2016).

Thierry has taught economics, monetary and European economy, history of economic thought and social philosophy at various universities (Limoges 1975-1986, ICHEC-Bruxelles 1986-1992 and Yale 2002-2003); he still gives talks on a regular basis at various universities in Italy.

Thierry holds a PhD in monetary economics and a university degree in mechanics. He is the author of a dozen of books and circa an hundred of specialized papers on his fields of competence. His latest book is: Europa matrigna, sovranita, identita, economie (Donzelli, 2019).

He is Chevalier of the French Légion d'Honneur.
