Kyle R. Scott
Kyle R. Scott is U.S. Consul General in Milan, Italy, for the U.S. Department of State.
A career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Minister Counselor, Kyle Scott took up his duties as Consul General in Milan, Italy, in August 2011.
Mr. Scott's career in the Foreign Service has spanned more than 30 years and seven overseas postings, concentrating primarily on European and multilateral affairs.
Mr. Scott joined Mission Italy after serving as Director of the Office of Russian Affairs from 2009 to 2011. Prior to this, Mr. Scott served as Deputy Chief of the U.S. Mission to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (USOSCE) in Vienna, Austria.
Mr. Scott also has served at the U.S. Mission to the European Union and U.S. Missions to the United Nations in New York and Geneva; at U.S. Embassies in Croatia, Israel, Hungary, and Russia; and as a National Security Fellow for the Department of State at the Hoover Institution in Stanford, California.
Mr. Scott is married and has two sons. He speaks several European languages, including Russian, Italian, Croatian, Hungarian, German and French. He studied German and Russian at Arizona State University, and did his graduate work in international finance at the American Graduate School for International Management, also in his home state of Arizona.
