Eric Sylvers

Eric Sylvers was born in California in 1971. He studied at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and did his junior year abroad at the Università degli Studi di Padova. He achieved his masters in economics and international relations at Johns Hopkins University (Washington D.C. and Bologna).

At the conclusion of his studies in 1997, Eric began working for Bloomberg News in Washington D.C. and was transferred to Milan at the end of 1998. he worked at Bloomberg until 2003 when he became a full-time contributor to the New York Times and sister paper the International Herald Tribune following the Italian economy and wireless technology worldwide.

Eric has also written on travel, food and Italian culture. He still writes a column for the IHT once a month, but since late 2008 he has been in charge of economic and political content for OVO, a company that is creating an online encyclopedia of three-minute videos (official launch is scheduled for March).
